About Me

I'm a freelance artist, designer and demonstrator and have been involved in arts and craft my whole life in one way or another. I design stamps for top British company Personal Impressions, under the "Lindsay Mason Designs" brand, as well as papers, templates and other crafting products. I'm a certified Ranger Educator and my first book,"Stamping", was published in 2009. I also design regular projects for Crafts Beautiful magazine and have made guest appearances from time to time on QVC. I've recently joined You Tube under the name of LindsayMason1000 where I'm posting short technique videos and you can buy my paintings and hand crafted pieces from my Etsy shop. My work takes me all around the country demonstrating stamping, papercrafts and general inkiness! When I'm not working, I love gardening, church & community activities, nature watching, journalling, music and theatre and just relaxing at home. Email me at: ljm.design1@virginmedia.com

My David

It seemed time to write this post to thank everyone for the kind comments, thoughtful emails and beautiful cards that David and I received and I know that he would have been very touched by all the moving things that have been said about him since his death.

Many of you knew David from when he was my "glamourous assistant" at workshops and have commented on his cheeky sense of humour as well as his encouraging words. He really did like joining in with everything and would sometimes sit in and make a card or two if he wasn't too busy getting the teas and coffees for everyone.

David was a caring, wise and good man who always thought about other people before himself. He'd go out of his way to help anyone, friend or stranger alike and nothing was ever too much trouble if he thought it was the right thing to do. I was, and am, so proud of him, especially in the last few weeks when he endured his illness without complaint, more worried about how I would cope than how he was feeling.

One piece of music has always summed up to me how David lived his life and we played our favourite version by Colm Wilkinson at his funeral. It's "The Impossible Dream" .....

"To dream the impossible dream
to fight the unbeatable foe
to bear, with unbearable sorrow
to run, where the brave dare not go.
To right the unrightable wrong,
to love, pure and chaste from afar.
To try, when your arms are too weary,
to reach the unreachable star.
This is my quest, to follow that star,
no matter how hopeless, no matter how far.
To fight for the right, without question or pause,
to be willing to march into Hell
for a Heavenly cause.
And I know if I'll only be true
to this glorious quest
that my heart will lie peaceful and calm
when I'm laid to my rest.
And the world will be better for this
that one man, scorned and covered with scars,
still strove, with his last ounce of courage,
to reach the unreachable star."

Although I'm devastated by his death, I know that I've been so lucky to have had thirty six years with the love of my life.

David didn't like having his photo taken, but I think he'd be alright with me sharing this one that Heather took when we went out to the local estuary to watch the birds a few weeks ago.
Once again, thank you for all your kind messages, and apologies that I haven't got round to thanking everyone in person yet - please know that each and every message, card, email and letter has been much appreciated.

Oh my goodness Lindsay what a lovely brave woman you are. I am sitting here blubbing my eyes out but your message has touched me so much. I have been thinking about you every day hoping that god is helping to make you stronger to get through this. Although I never got to meet your beloved David at a class/demo he looks and sounds like an amazing man and what a beautiful song to help send him on his way. The words are just lovely.
Lindsay do not even worry about thanking everyone personally. Everyone understands and if they feel like me it has just been a small token to let you know that you are in our hearts and that you have many people looking out for you. Just take each day as it comes and look after yourself. You are so brave to even be writing a post darlin (it is very much appreciated though). Don't forget all of your friends are here for you. Lots of love Clare xxx

Your post is very touching Lindsay and I think Clare, above, has summed it up beautifully. The piece you played at the funeral does seem so appropriate for David and I am sure he would love it if he knew. Take care, dear lady, take each day slowly and look after yourself, you are important too. Lots of hugs, Anne x

How nice it was to sit and read your loving words about your husband. Your photograph is so peaceful, you don't always need to see a face. Take care and look after your own health until we hear from you again.

It is so hard to know what to say at this sad time but we are all thinking of you. There must be many, many happy memories over those 36 years that you shared with David which can never be taken away. Look after yourself and take the time you need. Christina xxx

I've been away from my crafting and therefore away from my blogs for some time due to my own family hospital visits, so very saddened to hear this news. My love and prayers go out to you and your family Lindsay.

With much love, Karen xxx
