Hello all, this is really just to say that I'm concentrating on my new blog now, Lindsay Mason Designs, which you can find <a href="http://lindsaymasondesigns.blogspot.co.uk/">HERE</a> Do pop over and take a look if you haven't visited it yet.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />That will be the home of the work of my new Design Team as well as any of my own creative news and projects etc. The reason for the new blog is to showcase my new designs and the DT projects, but I've also become increasingly weary of trying to use this, my original blog, which keeps being interrupted by an ad page that blocks everything whilst I'm posting...really frustrating!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I will still put the occasional post on here, but do switch over to the new blog for more regular projects, designs and news. Hope to see you there!</div>

I've just finished putting together a new blog which will be to showcase projects made using my stamps and my downloadable designs. It will also be the main place to publish the work done by my new Design Team!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It may take a while for the address to work in normal searches, but here's the link <a href="http://lindsaymasondesigns.blogspot.co.uk/">Lindsay Mason Designs blog</a> !</div>
Lindsay Masonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04501976680558857975noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-235726834288929940.post-14718809256116283592016-03-15T17:49:00.001+00:002016-03-15T17:49:32.011+00:00Design Team<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'm thinking about organising a Design Team for my digital images. I
would send free downloads of my designs for you to use to create
whatever you wanted...Mixed Media projects, cards, canvasses, scrapbook
pages etc etc. I wouldn't be able to provide any other materials but you
could use whatever takes your fancy. I would only ask that you create
one project per month (more if you fancy of course!) and post them on
your blog/FB page as well as sending me a link. If you fancy being on
"my team" could you send me a few images of your work in an email and
I'll be in touch. My email address can be found in the sidebar of this page. I've had quite a few interested parties already, so the deadline will be this Friday 18th March.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Meanwhile,here are the two latest digital designs that I've added....both are A4 sheets...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
....love what she's done with them!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Great news on the Thomas front as he is back to his old self now after his big dental operation.there were some rather worrying moments when he just refused food and became very listless but he's got his strength back and is getting back to his fighting weight now - whew!</div>

Lindsay Masonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04501976680558857975noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-235726834288929940.post-14833826112409049092016-03-05T16:05:00.002+00:002016-03-06T17:34:50.817+00:00Digital Designs now in my Etsy shop<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've now uploaded the first of my new downloadable digital images to my
Etsy shop - a bit of a mix of drawings! The "One Eyed Matador" is there,
along with some other quirky characters, one or two owls and a few
buildings etc. I'll be working on, and adding, more on a regular basis,
so hope that you may find something that you like. The drawings have all
been scanned at 600 dpi for the best resolution. They can be coloured and cut out or simply used as a panel on a card.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
By the way....the One
Eyed Matador has a back story as I originally drew h<span class="text_exposed_show">im
in my Art Journal and lots of ladies at my workshops (several years ago
now) really wanted him as a stamp. As he's pretty creepy I knew that
the chance of him being chosen as a stamp design was virtually nil, so
he was never used. I've drawn him as close as possible to the original
character...his back story is that I used to look at the light coming
through the curtains in our old flat and I began to see patterns forming
into this weird character! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="text_exposed_show">Anyway, do take a look and let me know what
you think! <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/LindsayMasondesigns">https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/LindsayMasondesigns </a></span></div>

Hello all, I just wanted to give an update on Thomas's progress. He finally had his dental operation on Thursday after several delays due to emergency patients at the vet's. He's now almost back to his usual self after a few days of hiding from me...obviously fearing that I was going to leave him at the vet's again! He's just coming round to the knowledge that he can eat without pain, so is making up for his lack of food over the past few weeks. The vet did several tests on him whilst he was "under" and gave me the good news that, apart from gum disease which he'll need more treatment for further down the line, he is a "very, very healthy cat" - brilliant news! What a relief!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The other item in this post title refers to something that I am working on at the moment and hope to have up and running within the next couple of weeks. I've decided to create some downloadable images (I hate the expression "digi-stamps"!) which I'll be selling in my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/LindsayMasondesigns">Etsy</a> shop. As I'm not the greatest technical expert in the World (to say the least!) I've been dithering about, wondering whether I could do it or not. However, I added a test piece today which my sister kindly purchased (!), printed, resized in various ways and declared to be fine. So, I will be adding some images to my shop over the next week or two and will let you know as soon as they are ready. I'd appreciate any feedback, suggestions about anything you'd particularly like etc...it will all help! Thanks!</div>

Hello folks, just having another catch up on this sunny Monday morning - hope it's sunny wherever you are too.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Since my last post my big softie pusscat Thomas has been to the vet's a few times after going off his food. First he was diagnosed with a mouth infection but a second visit, and closer inspection, revealed that he needed a dental operation. So, on Wednesday he will be going in to have several teeth out which I am hoping will solve his problems. It's been very tough trying to get him to eat....mushed up high calorie prescribed pate which I've been syringing into his mouth, lots of cream, Lick-e-Lix and butter lapped from my fingers as well as antibiotics and painkillers...not easy. I'll be glad when Wednesday comes around, although I'll also be feeling queasy with worry.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
An enormous quote was presented to me of course....money I didn't have but I knew I would have to just find a way to raise it. My sister suggested I tried Crowdfunding and it seemed worth a try. I created a page and uploaded it to my Facebook page and am amazed, grateful and thrilled to say that, due to lots of very generous, often anonymous, donations, the money was raised in a few hours! I never cease to be amazed at how warm hearted people are. I'll let you know how the little sweetheart gets on.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well, it's Stitches Trade show at the NEC at the moment and it seems quite strange not being there...the first time that I've not been demonstrating and teaching there since I started. I'm feeling relaxed about it though and enjoying the lack of pressure which I really need for the time being at least. I'll be keen to know how my new stamp designs went down at the show though!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've added some new items to my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/LindsayMasondesigns">Etsy</a> shop, including a canvas which I created for Crafts Beautiful magazine at the end of last year and the Winter Frost canvas which I did for the DecoArt Design Team challenge - step by step instructions are in an earlier post here on my blog. Here are a few of the new items...</div>

My new stamp designs will be coming out in a few weeks so I thought I'd

new stamps under the Sweet Dixie brand with each artist's name on the
reverse of the packaging. These first four designs are my new Fairy Doors
range. All the new designs will be available to order at Stitches Trade show later this month.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Sorry to have been absent from everything for a while now. Illness and
other circumstances have kept me away, apart from things I had already
scheduled to be posted some time ago. I'm making some changes and the
biggest one is that, for the time being anyway, I'm not going to be
teaching workshops or doing any demonstrations. I will still be doing my
design work, including stamps etc, for Personal Impressions and selling
my work on Etsy. I'm hoping to get to grips with selling online artwork
too...I hate the term "digi stamps", but that kind of thing!<br />
Apologies if you've tried to contact me over the last several weeks and
not had a reply...I will be trying to catch up with messages etc over
the next few days.</div>

Hi folks, my turn to share the project I designed for the <a href="https://decoart.com/mixedmediablog/article/162/decoart_media_winter_wonderland_challenge">DecoArt Winter Wonderland Challenge</a> and I decided upon an abstract canvas that would convey the icy chills of the season. </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTn175n0QU0M4Vc2DP2FPVpU2wXzm98Ic99ar8Y8g26LJ0WKAm6lzTESluoZiVt-Wg0jYoT0G4B_Eja_pvUC1tedNHXxXQXi_0SGVXNoY02f75AgXmFjVwTKHxAvfPd0Qf1qMWEZUf95I/s1600/IMG_0171.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTn175n0QU0M4Vc2DP2FPVpU2wXzm98Ic99ar8Y8g26LJ0WKAm6lzTESluoZiVt-Wg0jYoT0G4B_Eja_pvUC1tedNHXxXQXi_0SGVXNoY02f75AgXmFjVwTKHxAvfPd0Qf1qMWEZUf95I/s400/IMG_0171.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Begin by applying gesso over the canvas with a spatula, aiming to create varying thickness and texture.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghKQyl-ZnxkWgd1Gxrc3WA7nwWOAYdzxgyOVc3UkHGlXue3s45px3bjQn-TeSf7ApJQZ3L696AgIY9irn1NdnZb0FBjidhmdffeBB_e2tMXXb1wLGnMXIHVCosjUIYNC9HS9rvzTVzMxw/s1600/IMG_0172.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghKQyl-ZnxkWgd1Gxrc3WA7nwWOAYdzxgyOVc3UkHGlXue3s45px3bjQn-TeSf7ApJQZ3L696AgIY9irn1NdnZb0FBjidhmdffeBB_e2tMXXb1wLGnMXIHVCosjUIYNC9HS9rvzTVzMxw/s400/IMG_0172.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Press a few beads into the thicker areas of the gesso.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-Pi2trBN4QQRWbwBBDdyIAUHSkMJ0HQRocOGnhLtumCiOez0NNAzqQ3T-BQGg6CL4fVzD-ir4Gefq3mV9Z8XWMVLMSkI6DM9GxDglbp6Npj-zNBsB0ugIZ7hJG6J7HLOzFmhGYAEs0UQ/s1600/IMG_0173.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-Pi2trBN4QQRWbwBBDdyIAUHSkMJ0HQRocOGnhLtumCiOez0NNAzqQ3T-BQGg6CL4fVzD-ir4Gefq3mV9Z8XWMVLMSkI6DM9GxDglbp6Npj-zNBsB0ugIZ7hJG6J7HLOzFmhGYAEs0UQ/s400/IMG_0173.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Scratch a few "icicles" into the gesso along the top and bottom edges of the canvas using a ball ended tool or a brush handle.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbLZoy8sO2NJd8Ci0U71sVhZquOD9xQxwpS7M5B1u4K9mlDEUSD8EPfq-JcMoiBE2rjaq5YRKHEcoZY5XplGP9Nd-B9KksHXEJj0LXikuAuj1Ej89QtHo1eO8LeyPOBqGFA34CVJ3JMbs/s1600/IMG_0174.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbLZoy8sO2NJd8Ci0U71sVhZquOD9xQxwpS7M5B1u4K9mlDEUSD8EPfq-JcMoiBE2rjaq5YRKHEcoZY5XplGP9Nd-B9KksHXEJj0LXikuAuj1Ej89QtHo1eO8LeyPOBqGFA34CVJ3JMbs/s400/IMG_0174.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
When the gesso is partially dry, apply heat in a few areas...this will cause the surface to bubble up and create extra texture.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFKFVrknDsg73ZdDrqPqMGjVpYcmNa9JC4u-nRnhusbFj8ZOHPhBM6n_ARUPPEAcoKqlNG4PLQ507kfGwXhQPqZnzOPlusoAs4M_JwWmfmrns6FW2JUxGyQgg7bNz2LaMIrPWM4pMsTKE/s1600/IMG_0175.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFKFVrknDsg73ZdDrqPqMGjVpYcmNa9JC4u-nRnhusbFj8ZOHPhBM6n_ARUPPEAcoKqlNG4PLQ507kfGwXhQPqZnzOPlusoAs4M_JwWmfmrns6FW2JUxGyQgg7bNz2LaMIrPWM4pMsTKE/s400/IMG_0175.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Add some strips of mesh and thin string to the surface, using more gesso to keep them in place.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrCVYPqhSAvB6lTEknBj0beb4prAB283yOzn9JjEXh_JwW-QheiEL7zz2-lZwqeBl2ib-fhHLrxIzmwP_UbqrGnTn0Hs20XWOgAN35VOFJfNvJ1GBLy4tlLkI4s7IJa3G363DafkuEwBM/s1600/IMG_0176.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrCVYPqhSAvB6lTEknBj0beb4prAB283yOzn9JjEXh_JwW-QheiEL7zz2-lZwqeBl2ib-fhHLrxIzmwP_UbqrGnTn0Hs20XWOgAN35VOFJfNvJ1GBLy4tlLkI4s7IJa3G363DafkuEwBM/s400/IMG_0176.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This was how my canvas looked at this stage.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDHePeWJkHLtr8h3-gWQwUGAvVht54bKL1rREK6YhM_fD8jdzrq4V6J9xMbkqut7HNfQARiEuLSewtnxU-k4ljrcsXS-eo4F8mMK0oQa72sErJSsrIPmcaydR_OZg6rrBjWGqsBHKj1_8/s1600/IMG_0178.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDHePeWJkHLtr8h3-gWQwUGAvVht54bKL1rREK6YhM_fD8jdzrq4V6J9xMbkqut7HNfQARiEuLSewtnxU-k4ljrcsXS-eo4F8mMK0oQa72sErJSsrIPmcaydR_OZg6rrBjWGqsBHKj1_8/s400/IMG_0178.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Add some drops of Liquid Glass to create nicely rounded blobs of texture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7hIcSJQ_l3i0MQ-Tir4QwES7DE0BXJQiDsQW6CDU0ytb8h6ptRnIoaVfWXhK-wRTLcwlkKpMVOtalRoeyBruOqD0reUnH_mg_APATKuYQwF9DyKdvXYoxjFWkKkL8KpTIoHEQrxldfd4/s1600/IMG_0177.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7hIcSJQ_l3i0MQ-Tir4QwES7DE0BXJQiDsQW6CDU0ytb8h6ptRnIoaVfWXhK-wRTLcwlkKpMVOtalRoeyBruOqD0reUnH_mg_APATKuYQwF9DyKdvXYoxjFWkKkL8KpTIoHEQrxldfd4/s400/IMG_0177.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Use Matte Medium to adhere a dried leaf to the canvas - if you don't have any, then a purchased skeleton leaf would work. Smudge a little gesso around the leaf and stem to fill any areas where it may be sticking up. You can also add a little to the surface as I did. Allow everything to dry fully.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4AZ-6lvDpgO94f3g6byxYqTab8nuvoIDjAcp5_hD3WB3poAJXk8sY4MEKYPS3-mNwFE2zCm1Cgf0VDAjuZiNG2J5-r7X05fFlDZ2vVzI4DhLdqbt8dCoGq1-hHJHtTR8kK5tqFFYxMDY/s1600/IMG_0180.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4AZ-6lvDpgO94f3g6byxYqTab8nuvoIDjAcp5_hD3WB3poAJXk8sY4MEKYPS3-mNwFE2zCm1Cgf0VDAjuZiNG2J5-r7X05fFlDZ2vVzI4DhLdqbt8dCoGq1-hHJHtTR8kK5tqFFYxMDY/s400/IMG_0180.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Paint the whole canvas with the Fluid Acrylics (except for the Cobalt Teal Hue) blending them over the surface and getting into all the nooks and crannies.You are aiming to cover the white completely - don't forget the edges!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1ijFSl1ymBYiTtsQrSAjZpHjCAAQuK6-cpw4InykPIsUhYLqpmnySuI3PL6dgX5SfaQJ2UKZAL3WnA7Wj1M3ktCOvxr37jT-wCrXqhUs-Ml-pftW0gHOHN_Nv2noiORE60GBVL2ASnmE/s1600/IMG_0182.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1ijFSl1ymBYiTtsQrSAjZpHjCAAQuK6-cpw4InykPIsUhYLqpmnySuI3PL6dgX5SfaQJ2UKZAL3WnA7Wj1M3ktCOvxr37jT-wCrXqhUs-Ml-pftW0gHOHN_Nv2noiORE60GBVL2ASnmE/s400/IMG_0182.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Spritz areas of the canvas with the Violet Shimmer Mister - this will give a subtle glint to those areas.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqvdKA7LwgigwbDSS6gQAOW-7XHt1wj9sF8FHKf1Pl4ZlANIfgHRTX7p0ITbarpxNc2aaz2TGgqbyQqCeGKdv2EjupiQ1GYPJ5GQDSeSw2vX3gKXA2oqe87lF2SZ-oRTAKbba0l7CYjlw/s1600/IMG_0181.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="323" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqvdKA7LwgigwbDSS6gQAOW-7XHt1wj9sF8FHKf1Pl4ZlANIfgHRTX7p0ITbarpxNc2aaz2TGgqbyQqCeGKdv2EjupiQ1GYPJ5GQDSeSw2vX3gKXA2oqe87lF2SZ-oRTAKbba0l7CYjlw/s400/IMG_0181.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is how my canvas looked at this stage...the colours didn't photograph too well here, but you can see the various shades blending across the surface.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEWJ24cG1dtz6mlaKHZD__szuGU1xzn310xB7KC0RidQSnL4AoyQ3Ecb6zoYIa6EQUDrYnOGLjCbu_Vb0M3wwTt1ITsTsCjUa5kMFRRJIZMOQ_Kp6dB9SiZVFw9GiwW0jDn9P0IwBkngA/s1600/IMG_0184.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEWJ24cG1dtz6mlaKHZD__szuGU1xzn310xB7KC0RidQSnL4AoyQ3Ecb6zoYIa6EQUDrYnOGLjCbu_Vb0M3wwTt1ITsTsCjUa5kMFRRJIZMOQ_Kp6dB9SiZVFw9GiwW0jDn9P0IwBkngA/s400/IMG_0184.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Next we need to start highlighting the canvas surface. I used the Cobalt Teal Hue to brush over some areas, blending as I went with a dry brush and light touch.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj9X539Jlin-mmxflGE4gOIhzl7iEV57TWXd26QiWurfXMuCgclZZj-93_3hFY05f97kgWJ7ittWN5yeuq16HXPsju8pfi11LpbUdvPM4gvZO0bHVlzXcRyvBkpMOgRRYBhTAt2UP0K-o/s1600/IMG_0185.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj9X539Jlin-mmxflGE4gOIhzl7iEV57TWXd26QiWurfXMuCgclZZj-93_3hFY05f97kgWJ7ittWN5yeuq16HXPsju8pfi11LpbUdvPM4gvZO0bHVlzXcRyvBkpMOgRRYBhTAt2UP0K-o/s400/IMG_0185.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I mixed some Snowtex and gesso together to get a slightly more fluid version of the Snowtex and then brushed this over various areas. I particularly concentrated on the raised elements.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxedYHmrpMbhE9VPWM5Kyl1e85SluOh02QBnwe6X0aDfcHEhs-TvNR8t97xDg3xD_vHM5Qpblscgj_nErjlSglikS_J5Vp3X9y9ZcFbEP1weG8iVI1AtuUOVrDYwUW2DZC6W_bnct3c1o/s1600/IMG_0189.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxedYHmrpMbhE9VPWM5Kyl1e85SluOh02QBnwe6X0aDfcHEhs-TvNR8t97xDg3xD_vHM5Qpblscgj_nErjlSglikS_J5Vp3X9y9ZcFbEP1weG8iVI1AtuUOVrDYwUW2DZC6W_bnct3c1o/s400/IMG_0189.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Some Glamour Dust sprinkled onto the wet Snowtex/Gesso mix gives the ultimate frosty effect!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJxzKnzAztA5mBTJ8aQ95B_u6-9FdJlmQb-VkSMfQwnhBjp5CzmS8lFJHHpWo5oyRExNmi-Ax9_z7O5OCf5g0dXntP2kvcHvJX6n6twHsBMfrcU7XAjllBt6VFiPDZClSL4N1jLsETM-g/s1600/IMG_0187.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJxzKnzAztA5mBTJ8aQ95B_u6-9FdJlmQb-VkSMfQwnhBjp5CzmS8lFJHHpWo5oyRExNmi-Ax9_z7O5OCf5g0dXntP2kvcHvJX6n6twHsBMfrcU7XAjllBt6VFiPDZClSL4N1jLsETM-g/s400/IMG_0187.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
After playing around with the size and shape of the twigs I wanted to use, I added neat Snowtex to the top edges of them and let them dry.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdUPu4s6xXCk7Rp4nXrwoirTeB1G_Fws55ttSuINN7VI540501algTY2ylKwAaBOJzeEYm66coiC0Uh8FyD4cnNKQqN282Yo_p6K3ytDs9yEPsaDjPycMc0HIiDxC9_Wv2GwrXd8oC5bw/s1600/IMG_0197.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdUPu4s6xXCk7Rp4nXrwoirTeB1G_Fws55ttSuINN7VI540501algTY2ylKwAaBOJzeEYm66coiC0Uh8FyD4cnNKQqN282Yo_p6K3ytDs9yEPsaDjPycMc0HIiDxC9_Wv2GwrXd8oC5bw/s400/IMG_0197.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I used a large, sharp needle and strong white thread to attach the twigs to the canvas - just a few stitches at various points on each twig are enough to hold them firmly in place.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrlC-RdFlhVbYDYHGdYE0bLGn-tgKQJNUwmX4oxPQv83_ZUFlZzpK-XNPLvR-H5pcN_7G4WUuXA5f1RXMk6HzxO7z32576C87XldMXL8EpVhSqUqfKeNWpEi_KVrS0hMM8EyqNxjytPaA/s1600/IMG_0203.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="245" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrlC-RdFlhVbYDYHGdYE0bLGn-tgKQJNUwmX4oxPQv83_ZUFlZzpK-XNPLvR-H5pcN_7G4WUuXA5f1RXMk6HzxO7z32576C87XldMXL8EpVhSqUqfKeNWpEi_KVrS0hMM8EyqNxjytPaA/s400/IMG_0203.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I used Fly Stitch to create the look of some birds flying in the distance. You can see how to create a Fly Stitch <a href="http://stitchingcow.com/pages/instructions-on-how-to-work-fly-stitch">here</a>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Here are a few close ups of my finished piece which show the detail and texture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

or welcome the New Year in. I pray that, beyond personal wishes and
goals, we can work together to lessen the fear and hatred that has
blighted this past year and go some way toward that seemingly impossible
dream of peace. Love and blessings.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Like many other people this year, I'm not posting out Christmas cards and am using the postage costs towards buying gifts which we collect at Church for homeless and disadvantaged people. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
So, I've made an attempt at creating a photoshopped, digital card which is a small triumph for me as I really struggle with digital imaging! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I really hope that everyone will have a wonderful Christmas and that we might all look forward to a more peaceful and happy new year.</div>

Here is a fun project that there's still plenty of time to make for Christmas. I do like having things other than tree ornaments and tinsel that I can bring out each year to adorn my walls over the festive period.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Even if you are nervous of painting this is a very achievable canvas so I hope you'll give it a try!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKvGV2Shu-yvNQGr6TYM7MdocqqApyRXT9gx3q4QMd0UYXqnEHYWr9HnyjMAPrUQrCJv7BKDOcxjl9aGQ7mNWeC-mKgbhQ8Dq0GtO7xdGyTtWCF3Nijh5CmF4NNtXQVwYfAKnJYBXYP8M/s1600/IMG_0076.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="376" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKvGV2Shu-yvNQGr6TYM7MdocqqApyRXT9gx3q4QMd0UYXqnEHYWr9HnyjMAPrUQrCJv7BKDOcxjl9aGQ7mNWeC-mKgbhQ8Dq0GtO7xdGyTtWCF3Nijh5CmF4NNtXQVwYfAKnJYBXYP8M/s400/IMG_0076.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The snowman is created using my "Winter Wonderland Snowman" stamp set (PICSA6451) available from stockists of Personal Impressions products. I stamped him onto white card and carefully cut him out. Note that if you don't want to include the word blocks on his body, stick strips of masking tape over them, ink up the stamp then remove the tape <i>before</i> stamping the image. (Clever eh? Not really!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL569AJBD4eB1Qk79t8zPz5gmBYcx3icp1SAr0CaYMHkMxW7mIsEv2k_kOYub9DO7wqtFtRZnDuIpV6L6oDA8NFR7AnotgfEfo9S8H6-_lAVSJVgOLKYl2JiSZ1TFGN3aDGpwFC8Z1IkU/s1600/IMG_0084.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL569AJBD4eB1Qk79t8zPz5gmBYcx3icp1SAr0CaYMHkMxW7mIsEv2k_kOYub9DO7wqtFtRZnDuIpV6L6oDA8NFR7AnotgfEfo9S8H6-_lAVSJVgOLKYl2JiSZ1TFGN3aDGpwFC8Z1IkU/s400/IMG_0084.JPG" width="305" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I placed the cut out image onto an 8" x 8" canvas and drew around the shape and then applied DecoArt Media Line white Gesso over the canvas, leaving the snowman shape clear. I find it best to smooth the gesso into the snowman outline so that there isn't a harsh stop line. I used DecoArt products throughout except for a black Archival ink pad.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEir98Oy7fRvx46zNZI62v_NcKR3mdVea4B7q91QIwCiSYdRHdi98nbYpxK36apxxVZh8dYyJpOSXPdFC1lAvlpNHI4BY7TyW9rmJJN-FkllEhdOX6q3VmJLgyscplZbm2WfeqONYvQxj3k/s1600/IMG_0082.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="363" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEir98Oy7fRvx46zNZI62v_NcKR3mdVea4B7q91QIwCiSYdRHdi98nbYpxK36apxxVZh8dYyJpOSXPdFC1lAvlpNHI4BY7TyW9rmJJN-FkllEhdOX6q3VmJLgyscplZbm2WfeqONYvQxj3k/s400/IMG_0082.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I then applied DA Crackle Paint over various areas of the canvas, some thin and some thick - the thicker the application, the heavier the crackling will be. Set aside the canvas to dry and, whatever you do, don't use a heat tool to try and speed up the process or the gesso will bubble and the crackle paint will not work. I usually place mine in a warm spot and keep checking...patience!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Meanwhile, we can turn our attention to the snowman. Using the Translucent White Fluid Acrylic, paint over the snowman's face and body - I use a soft brush that is just damp.There's no need to add water to the paint as it's very fluid as the name suggests. You will still be able to see the stamped details through the paint so you are effectively just colouring in the image - easy! Here are the colours of Media Fluid Acrylics that I used for the whole project...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj261k9eRtypWCrfnCc0mTTj2Frar0fsiA1ccxyg-pELJWo6dNnX22QW8D0LdEdUmLg8gcU3cUIqqla77A5vhjCKtigckzsjR7SFDlZ66P-hT62Y5LwgApviDnhvxmSgzs_ymx11DVY4uA/s1600/IMG_0083.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj261k9eRtypWCrfnCc0mTTj2Frar0fsiA1ccxyg-pELJWo6dNnX22QW8D0LdEdUmLg8gcU3cUIqqla77A5vhjCKtigckzsjR7SFDlZ66P-hT62Y5LwgApviDnhvxmSgzs_ymx11DVY4uA/s400/IMG_0083.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Continue painting the snowman in your choice of colours. I like to use ball ended tools in various sizes when I add the facial details in black as this gives a nice round shape - you can use the end of a paintbrush too. Remember to paint the edges of the image to cover any white card that may show otherwise.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Once the canvas is dry and has nicely crackled, you can start to paint it...I added a row of simple trees and a sunrise to mine. Just have fun with the colours! I also smoothed Metallic Silver over the crackled areas and immediately removed the paint with a baby wipe which just leaves the silver in the cracks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7babthnF5UU5uIZprk6HcyutLuRa7oen7AmobEqp72UOzcHJa5Ex6E7hbGhVhERiTESW0l2N7y01MmHICyQm563D74whsQXwrNtfjZ7N-Ji_qst9P3Fp71qmUjX6mJS0TjDLFgyRe5tw/s1600/IMG_0079.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7babthnF5UU5uIZprk6HcyutLuRa7oen7AmobEqp72UOzcHJa5Ex6E7hbGhVhERiTESW0l2N7y01MmHICyQm563D74whsQXwrNtfjZ7N-Ji_qst9P3Fp71qmUjX6mJS0TjDLFgyRe5tw/s400/IMG_0079.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I painted on the words and extra snowflakes using Titanium White and a fine brush.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Once you are happy with the background, glue the snowman to the space that you left on the canvas - DA Matte Medium is ideal for this. Make sure it is well stuck, especially around the edges. I like to add some shadow around the image so that it looks grounded...simply blend colour that is slightly darker than the background around the snowman's outline. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkGB357RAswyVRRHC7Jaxg1F046NoFE_NWE8fLQD7UmZGbCRcUtbJZGKcSjyPVtURJoc34T0rs_k0bCpx3Z64Qf_pM6Q_oJAdODu_307L0GSbZtcip1Uk4lGDFQ_nBSUiJ9Suzi9evwSE/s1600/IMG_0077.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkGB357RAswyVRRHC7Jaxg1F046NoFE_NWE8fLQD7UmZGbCRcUtbJZGKcSjyPVtURJoc34T0rs_k0bCpx3Z64Qf_pM6Q_oJAdODu_307L0GSbZtcip1Uk4lGDFQ_nBSUiJ9Suzi9evwSE/s400/IMG_0077.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Next, apply a couple of coats of Soft Touch Varnish over the snowman, allowing it to just go over the edge of the cut out image which will nicely seal it to the canvas. Whilst still wet, sprinkle in a little Glamour Dust for extra sparkle!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ8Eb8zSk9gYEQrYIHzAVi3bS7r2ZapVuNDMPCV9k-aPh_DcdA5HLwn5VUbxMNDWWr3y8Njc26JGzURbZUnGpk9TXDbDIHYWgkVDK3gqj7nY0bMELI0aIeTElO9OWbDiF2Um4w0I-G8vY/s1600/IMG_0080.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ8Eb8zSk9gYEQrYIHzAVi3bS7r2ZapVuNDMPCV9k-aPh_DcdA5HLwn5VUbxMNDWWr3y8Njc26JGzURbZUnGpk9TXDbDIHYWgkVDK3gqj7nY0bMELI0aIeTElO9OWbDiF2Um4w0I-G8vY/s400/IMG_0080.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Use a spatula to apply Snowtex to the base of the canvas to give a really snowy, textured surface for the snowman to stand in. Again, a little Glamour Dust looks very festive. I then mix Snowtex with gesso to let it down a little before using a small brush to add snowy details to his hat and the trees.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCA_-rXOvhbOHF-47qij7Q9MAZv8PKtryesYNEe3jDoMyLDFpWzrZCLkubfZAuwim86ouGv51Wj1WSc9utgstGde1U3DwWk61dEaG79tLMdMeGegPAvYu5N94PvAsnTalXlUTx0qYfnaY/s1600/IMG_0078.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCA_-rXOvhbOHF-47qij7Q9MAZv8PKtryesYNEe3jDoMyLDFpWzrZCLkubfZAuwim86ouGv51Wj1WSc9utgstGde1U3DwWk61dEaG79tLMdMeGegPAvYu5N94PvAsnTalXlUTx0qYfnaY/s400/IMG_0078.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I really hope you'll give this canvas a try...using the stamped image separately in this way really does make it much easier! </div>

Hello strangers! I'm hoping that some of you will have been catching up with me on my Facebook page (which isn't one that you have to join) but apologies for my absence. This has been a combination of being run off my feet, a flagging keyboard that means typing takes about seven times longer than it should and a very annoying page that keeps dropping down whenever I am trying to post...IQ Options, whatever that is, but I cannot get rid of it and it prevents me from using my page properly.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I really will try to get back on here as much as I can, but please bear with me and do pop over to my FB page if you can!</div>

I have another step by step project on the DecoArt Mixed Media blog....this time a winged goblet. I'd had a rather nicely shaped glass sitting on my shelf for a while and knew that I wanted to give it a makeover. It was after watching a Harry Potter film on TV that this idea came to me!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Hope you like it....you can find full instructions and a materials list<a href="http://decoart.com/mixedmediablog/project/281/winged_goblet"> here</a>.</div>

After feeling rather glum, I felt in need of some colour therapy and created a very simple journal page last night to cheer myself up a bit! I was given the kick start I needed by Mel who created <a href="http://theyorkshirefox.blogspot.co.uk/2015/07/sunburst.html">these pieces</a> ...they just shouted at me to go bold and bright!<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I stuck some book paper into my Moleskine journal before applying white gesso over the two pages. Once dry I brushed on DecoArt Media Line Fluid Acrylics in Quiacridone
Magenta, Cobalt Teal Hue and Diarylide Yellow, just allowing the colours
to merge and create whatever fresh shades they would!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRoN4opqT69BLrMDb509m__Jips5sTRREQA-oXyudKD3EhWd0GmqrF3XTpcABE8j5wcNvOFHIbhDKskeF486HC3qdOCg6q4x6xTFhkNpqfC8gT-QYdsCAfV1_wWLlUn5FhF1AXA96qTZk/s1600/DSC00835.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRoN4opqT69BLrMDb509m__Jips5sTRREQA-oXyudKD3EhWd0GmqrF3XTpcABE8j5wcNvOFHIbhDKskeF486HC3qdOCg6q4x6xTFhkNpqfC8gT-QYdsCAfV1_wWLlUn5FhF1AXA96qTZk/s400/DSC00835.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I quickly added
some Titanium White circles (the old bottle lid trick) and quickly
flicked water over the surface before dabbing with a paper towel which
removed some of the colour intensity in certain areas. The Fluid
Acrylics are waterproof when dry, so you can't hang about!</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBlavmVXHUIe7uVe42QH9lYu1YbYO3chBGxnZL4jWSxjSulUpKfSW4-tlTdSqyHp5bdk-pb1H19mjhDpbMi-87b3yv0dq1ui6kcPkKfwE9ZHBTfgDtHWKOUDRJno5t2y7ARsUKTGwxi1U/s1600/DSC00837.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBlavmVXHUIe7uVe42QH9lYu1YbYO3chBGxnZL4jWSxjSulUpKfSW4-tlTdSqyHp5bdk-pb1H19mjhDpbMi-87b3yv0dq1ui6kcPkKfwE9ZHBTfgDtHWKOUDRJno5t2y7ARsUKTGwxi1U/s400/DSC00837.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I added some handwritten words and lines in black and some extra detail around the page edges with my white pen. I use my dictionary pages quite a lot....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPmHBBSePDMoXwRRoo_VjqWa9pIDLXQHBHpVRpSRndOu0K6cWzprVqmDk9ws9-r7ip54nbzQsUshJQc_wbXqcqHGnXWT2FCiLMs3STHS9IdPtP0TpzGOMf_NNFzpJSO4LcYcHNUofhpRg/s1600/DSC00838.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPmHBBSePDMoXwRRoo_VjqWa9pIDLXQHBHpVRpSRndOu0K6cWzprVqmDk9ws9-r7ip54nbzQsUshJQc_wbXqcqHGnXWT2FCiLMs3STHS9IdPtP0TpzGOMf_NNFzpJSO4LcYcHNUofhpRg/s400/DSC00838.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, just a very simple journal spread but one that gave me a much needed lift.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuktgfukLQRDXdy6oWoXOccOaWv_OaS-S2ZMQIsAAy-lJsgAhvjRSMsOOfVypGnR5oYYLvbS1dz5Weanb6t7oDXj5I6rddgxQ6rCANtm6Tyu-88wgGyYPjAZUGADw78Kwf4kXBh9jXmSQ/s1600/DSC00836.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuktgfukLQRDXdy6oWoXOccOaWv_OaS-S2ZMQIsAAy-lJsgAhvjRSMsOOfVypGnR5oYYLvbS1dz5Weanb6t7oDXj5I6rddgxQ6rCANtm6Tyu-88wgGyYPjAZUGADw78Kwf4kXBh9jXmSQ/s400/DSC00836.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A little different to the page that I created a few days ago, which was full of crackles, more muted shades and allusions to pressure and depression. I feel I may go back to this page yet, but am leaving it for a while to see where it decides to take me!</div>

On Saturday 25th July I'll be teaching a full days workshop at Craft Range in Burnley, where we'll be creating two Mixed Media projects, concentrating on using Deco Art Media Line products. If you have a romantic nature, along with a love of creating, then you might enjoy my workshop next Saturday which is being hosted by Rowan Tree Crafts at the Heritage Centre in Carnforth Railway station....setting of course, to some of the scenes in Brief Encounter....arguably the most romantic film ever made!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We'll be making a triple hanging plaque something like this.....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAgmxm1JcjHutewgWuQQvzdefcFc8Gvp6JGEMSHS5Ajn0tM2sBmp67cEqjYHCygnwKx_3Ao08RwHu2TPpKCBLbfRtzO8yeZxRjEGi3mnxT5gxeIq5on0ap5Be9sbjAAD1RCwC6ynuH-s0/s1600/DSC01894.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAgmxm1JcjHutewgWuQQvzdefcFc8Gvp6JGEMSHS5Ajn0tM2sBmp67cEqjYHCygnwKx_3Ao08RwHu2TPpKCBLbfRtzO8yeZxRjEGi3mnxT5gxeIq5on0ap5Be9sbjAAD1RCwC6ynuH-s0/s400/DSC01894.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
....using my Gilded Layering Technique. The cost of this workshop is £35 which includes lunch. If you fancy joining me, please contact the shop directly to book at Rowan Tree Crafts, <span class="text_exposed_show">3, Ashtrees Way , Carnforth, Lancashire or telephone 07590605078. Hope to see you there!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="text_exposed_show">Meanwhile, I'm busy with various projects and watching the odd Wimbledon game here and there when I can - I don't think I've managed to see a full match yet! I shall be glued to the men's final a week on Sunday though!</span></div>

<span class="text_exposed_show">I guess almost everyone enjoyed, or endured (depending on how you feel about it) the thunderstorms over the last few nights. I've enjoyed them but Tara has most definitely endured them....running under a very low cupboard that she can hardly squeeze beneath every time the rumbles start - bless her.</span></div>

<span class="text_exposed_show"> I had to lie on the floor beside the cupboard so I could try and keep her calm. Thomas isn't bothered by it all really, in fact,he was pestering to go out in at last night....silly thing!</span></div>

Many apologies for the looooooong time since I last posted on my blog. Unfortunately it's been nigh on impossible due to some sort of ad page that has been coming down over the screen whenever I've tried to add anything here. Gggrrr! No matter what I've tried it has just kept blocking my view of my page and made it a nightmare to try and post. Fingers crossed though (sshhhh...) it seems to have righted itself at the moment so I am hoping that I can resume normal service.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well, lots has been going on here since my last post of course! So, as it would take way too long to give a detailed round up of the last three months (!) I will share some photos and just a few highlights....</div>

I've been busy with my Studio Workshops...those of you who know how often I travel long distances, lugging heavy bags around, will guess what a nice change it is for me to be teaching from home! Back in April I was confirmed in Church. Although baptised (both as a baby and then again as a teenager!) I had never been confirmed so this meant a great deal to me. It was a very moving experience and one I shall always treasure. As well as the children, there were four other ladies and here we are with Bishop Geoff...</div>

....we feel we have a real bond of friendship now.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Summer seems to have taken a while to get going doesn't it? I haven't had many chances to sit in the garden, or even to do any gardening really...in fact, I'm ashamed to say that I haven't even had time to grow any vegetables this year and there are more weeds than flowers at the moment. Oh well, I can't fit everything in and there's always next Spring to think about. I think that will be a New Year's Resolution that I might be able to keep! There have been a few chances to enjoy the sunshine though...the garden bench is a lovely spot to sit and draw....</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Unfortunately, just as I got into knitting, I had that nasty bump to my head at Stitches trade show and, since then, I've found that I can't knit without it bringing on vertigo and nausea! Weird. However, I have taught myself to crochet (which is a minor miracle) and this doesn't have the same ill effects. Here's my first completed project....</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
....I'm only up to simple shapes, but that's okay...scarves, cushions, shawls and throws will do! Talking of throws, I did manage to finish the one I was knitting, and decided that it would look just right on the back of the sofa. Tara agreed and also assumed that I had put it there just for her! Needless to say, it is looking more like a felted blanket every day as she delights in paddling her claws up and down in it....never mind!</div>

As well as my usual work, I've been busy doing more with DecoArt products as I'm on the International Design Team. This is the latest project that I created for the Mixed Media Blog which has step by step photographs that you can find <a href="http://decoart.com/mixedmediablog/project/274/love_has_wings">here</a>. It's a great blog which is well worth bookmarking - regular projects with great instructions from a range of designers.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I really loved the way the colours came together on this one.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've been enjoying watching the local wildlife of course. The birds, bats and other creatures that I'm lucky enough to have a wide range of in the surrounding area. I was happy to see this big, healthy hedgehog a couple of weeks ago. He is obviously doing well on slugs, snails and worms as he ignored the cat food that I put down for him. Thomas was rather interested in him too, as you can see....</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
....Mr Hedgie was quite unworried by either me or Thomas and just snuffled on his way into the garden!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well, this is a very random post I know! I've just picked a selection of photos and moments from the last few weeks, but there have been lots of other things happening too. I was the after dinner speaker at a local Tangent ladies group a couple of weeks ago, which was great fun...a few funny reminiscences as well as some simple demonstrations....it seemed to go down well! Design work has been ongoing of course, as well as demonstrations and workshops around the country.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A friend asked me to create a card for her to give to a male relative and I came up with this one....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfEobxgrAKXCo_LnSeWPPB1M7sQhYhLHsX45BI1khWHdR965f6jzxoUgpY-d_l4jsq6gaXH4r-xbKxe8HCvL6JHHY_uiOIm8AIe4EH1El7xayhP7QH9cLNDOibUNnRXXBGzgWeD3XYI0Q/s1600/DSC00765.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="330" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfEobxgrAKXCo_LnSeWPPB1M7sQhYhLHsX45BI1khWHdR965f6jzxoUgpY-d_l4jsq6gaXH4r-xbKxe8HCvL6JHHY_uiOIm8AIe4EH1El7xayhP7QH9cLNDOibUNnRXXBGzgWeD3XYI0Q/s400/DSC00765.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
...it's a card within a folded frame which allows it to be free standing. I used a Tim Holtz paper for the frame and then realised that the word "poison" was very obviously plastered across the top! Some Tim Holtz random rubs came to the rescue and did the job of disguising the offending word - you can see them at the top right above the aperture!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was at Samuel Taylor's in Leeds a couple of weeks ago, teaching a mixed media workshop, This was the project that we created....</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
....a really lovely day and I'll be there again teaching another workshop on the 18th July - again, details of what I'm up to can be found on the left.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well, this has taken a while but the blocking ad thing seems to have left me alone. I basically had to stay away from the blog so that whatever it was assumed that it was no longer worth pestering me I think! Hopefully it's done the trick and I shall resume normal service.Meanwhile,I do also have a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100006403097472">Facebook</a> page which is a public one, so you can always check that if I go missing again!</div>

It's been a busy time here in Doo Lally Land! I was at A Maze of Memories in Long Crendon a fortnight ago which was, as always, a really great weekend. I was there for two days this time, with a workshop on the Friday and then a demonstration and Make n Takes on the Saturday. Lots of fun with all the ladies who make my trips there so special. Here are a few pictures from the weekend....</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
....more concentration on Saturday!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I got back late on the Saturday night after a fairly straightforward journey and then it was a busy week ahead filled with all kinds of events. Church on Sunday of course, which always inspires and settles me for whatever is coming up. On Monday evening I was one of the "St Chad's Four" team for the Town Quiz which saw lots of teams competing for the annual trophy. We didn't win but we didn't do too badly either...my history and sport knowledge were pretty useless but I redeemed myself in the Colours and Music rounds!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Tuesday evening was taken up with a meeting of the PCC and on Wednesday I was back at Church for part four of our Lent course where we've been talking about the plight of Christians in the Eastern countries - quite an eye opener at times. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On Thursday morning two of my good friends treated me to a trip to a garden centre that's a bit further out than the one I normally manage to get to. The displays there are always gorgeous and they had lots of Spring like colours and themes in readiness for Easter of course. I loved these lambs and sheep!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
And I couldn't resist posing with King Kong outside in the garden area....</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I can't imagine what Tara and Thomas would make of him if I'd brought him home for our garden!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This week has been a little quieter on the social front, but I've been enjoying the glorious weather and have been making a (very slow) start on getting the jungle outside looking more like something resembling a garden. I've been making myself getting at least one job done out there every day so I cleaned out the mini pond and refilled it on one afternoon, pruned all the roses and the big lavender bush another day. The lavender has, unfortunately, largely died,so I was very sad to have to cut away large parts of it where it had just become dry and woody. I'm hoping that the rest of it will fill in the bar patch as it always makes a fantastic display in the summer and is noisy with bees for months on end.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was amazed when looking through my photos to realise that by this time of the year I have usually got trays of seedlings filling the conservatory. Ooops....I appear to be way behind! Partly for this reason, and partly because I really don't want to turn the conservatory into a full time greenhouse again, I've decided to just buy trays of young Sweet Peas and tomatoes etc this year. I bought one or two last year and they did really well, so it will mean less mess and more time to spend on getting the garden tidy as a whole.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I also put up a new arch over my garden bench as the original one was very flimsy and blew down in the strong winds. Thomas decided to enjoy the sunshine after I'd tied all the climbing roses onto their new support and I joined him with my knitting as it was such a gorgeous day!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNgNL2iLjaJ4ZYNCkXvRmeRlEOpv8blJJX-3qd1WYuxRtWAQKYXZNPZhyphenhyphenxkEmvxdYfs4Zn3ONYtKMLooMnOhvL01-IDbplYSu927o9yCyGKJqXfIS7R9Ol22sl5-FD7Z8ht9m0-WwjVY8/s1600/DSC00275.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNgNL2iLjaJ4ZYNCkXvRmeRlEOpv8blJJX-3qd1WYuxRtWAQKYXZNPZhyphenhyphenxkEmvxdYfs4Zn3ONYtKMLooMnOhvL01-IDbplYSu927o9yCyGKJqXfIS7R9Ol22sl5-FD7Z8ht9m0-WwjVY8/s1600/DSC00275.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Talking of knitting....Heather has, somehow, managed to get me totally obsessed with it! She brought some odd balls of yarn and needles and I decided to start a throw made up of six inch squares. My skills stretch no further than plain knitting and I don't do increasing or decreasing either (!) so I'm pretty much left with squares or scarves! The one on the bench is a scarf in progress and here are the piles of what I've been creating in the last couple of weeks or so....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHyQckBHY2HomwDy8uZIbn7zSBNS3qSS60EbCbK-xaeFKfIKY_PFB6_QH4G1id62x9eahyphenhyphen1mGUYSfP24EIqmxyp7XRvTWV9UikCIOkMtw9mIO56GsQvBD2kgD9d5xwJA8Pg5NX0YFOYmM/s1600/DSC00278.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHyQckBHY2HomwDy8uZIbn7zSBNS3qSS60EbCbK-xaeFKfIKY_PFB6_QH4G1id62x9eahyphenhyphen1mGUYSfP24EIqmxyp7XRvTWV9UikCIOkMtw9mIO56GsQvBD2kgD9d5xwJA8Pg5NX0YFOYmM/s1600/DSC00278.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
....the beige squares at the back are actually quite a bit bigger and are for cushion covers - there will be four squares per cushion front but I haven't decided yet whether to have the backs also knitted or to use a natural linen fabric instead. The two colourful piles are the ones for the throw - plain and random patterned to alternate. My ongoing scarf and the latest square are at the front. I'm really enjoying it and it's something that I can do in the evening or when I'm on the train...the cushion squares were all done on my journey to, and from, Oxfordshire!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I decided to get a throw for the sofa last week too as, although it's really sturdy and comfortable, the fabric was almost threadbare in places and looking really scruffy. David had been part way through re upholstering it (there was no job he wouldn't tackle - and do well) and it's not something I could do - I certainly didn't inherit my mum's sewing skills! I ordered the throw online and it turned out to be a rather more limey shade of green than the one I'd expected! Never mind, it's bright and cheerful and Thomas seems very happy with it....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
....quite a lot as you can see! I just need to make samples with them all now! Talking of samples, here is a sneaky peek of what we'll be creating at my workshop at Craft Range on 11th April...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Apologies! I made a mistake in typing my email address in the sidebar with relation to my new Studio Workshops....thank you to Dawn for pointing this out to me.</div>

So, to clarify, my email address is ljm.design1@virginmedia.com - if you have emailed me and had no reply, please contact me again with the above address and I'll be sure to get back to you.</div>

Gosh, it's been a while...mostly because something has been messing around with my access to blogger and keeps sending up a page that interrupts me whenever I've tried to post. I think it's something to do with Virgin having "updated" whatever it is that they update and my system doesn't seem to support everything as it did before. Gggggrrrr!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It's also been a really busy time here one way and another....Stitches trade show was as manic as ever - even more so this year, as I was working on both the Personal Impressions and Deco Art stands. Here are some images from the show.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
My new stamps were previewed at the show but, due to the pre production sets not being ready, I haven't been able to make any samples to share with you as yet. You can check out the new sets <a href="http://www.personalimpressions.com/product_supplier.php?supplier_code=LMAS01">here</a> though and they will be hitting the shops from around the 15th March...fingers crossed!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'm happy to say that I'm now on the Deco Art International Design Team which is really exciting. My first step by step project on the Mixed Media Blog can be seen <a href="http://decoart.com/mixedmediablog/project/232/winged_heart_wall_hanging">here </a>and there is a new button in my left sidebar which will take you straight to the general Mixed Media Blog. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've also been really busy with Church of course...lots of special services lately, including Ash Wednesday and St Chad's day. I was in Chorley on Wednesday for a full day's seminar on courses that we'll be running in the Summer so that was very interesting - if a little long! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My garden is looking extremely neglected...probably because it has been! I am just waiting for the weather to warm up so that I can get out there and hack through the jungle of weeds, clean out the micro pond and mow the lawn at last. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Thomas and Tara are beginning to spend a little more time outside again and I can tell that Spring is approaching by the fact that I am finding cat hairs attached to my clothing again..the moult has started!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3MER7dxzpJ1WvEmDbwg_b662JunG-t5sfybn61pwxHVH1Ac-ACnGc6ZI3g6PO32RajMczOWlYJ0zOde5WLPANtMid-_xFy0dLkXD2dPJLwCXIRtNWHHFzXu43NjPn8AuSpOSjE2sOyME/s1600/DSC02295.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3MER7dxzpJ1WvEmDbwg_b662JunG-t5sfybn61pwxHVH1Ac-ACnGc6ZI3g6PO32RajMczOWlYJ0zOde5WLPANtMid-_xFy0dLkXD2dPJLwCXIRtNWHHFzXu43NjPn8AuSpOSjE2sOyME/s1600/DSC02295.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've also decided to start running small (very small!) Mixed Media workshops from my little studio here.I can only take up to three people per session and these will be full days priced at £50 per person which includes all materials, refreshments, including lunch, and a goody bag of papers, ribbons, die cuts etc to take home. You can check out the first dates in my demo/workshop list on the left or you can request a specific date and I will try to fit it in for you.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Right, I will crack on as I have a large amount of dies to cut in preparation for tomorrow's workshop at Craft Range in Burnley!</div>

Hello folks, I'm just having a coffee break from my Doo Lally room so I thought I'd have a catch up. Don't forget that, even if you don't "do" Facebook, you can still look at my pages as they are on an open setting. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyway, I've been busy as I always am at this time of year, getting more things made for the Stitches trade show next weekend. I'm getting some good ideas for the next round of workshops too!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, time to share a few photos!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've made a few heart shaped pieces this week. Here are two quite different examples...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVFnWF61A9JMRMrNg_lTEd67A7PLCQxMcTfPPxyqLGWWy0FoJ2m37vYSeL3whdX1M1yN9Lxeh-xu-0o-4C1ZxDxKgAd_B6EPVLVHMSQt_LUmJsSKD7jzOZZI4dMrAE9FM-3pUl7tIPgCU/s1600/DSC02249.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVFnWF61A9JMRMrNg_lTEd67A7PLCQxMcTfPPxyqLGWWy0FoJ2m37vYSeL3whdX1M1yN9Lxeh-xu-0o-4C1ZxDxKgAd_B6EPVLVHMSQt_LUmJsSKD7jzOZZI4dMrAE9FM-3pUl7tIPgCU/s1600/DSC02249.JPG" height="278" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
...this one involved a twig from my garden which I wrapped with tissue, painted black and then used Lustres over to spruce it up a little - no pun intended! The sunnier days are making me look forward to venturing back into the jungle...er...garden and this creation was inspired by thinking of Spring being on the way.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This heart with wings has a much darker feel....</div>

.....I used some old wire to create the hanger...ribbon seemed far too pretty for this one!</div>

All the pieces that I'm making for the show will be added to my Etsy shop when I get back from Birmingham.</div>

You'd think that my two pusscats would be out enjoying prowling the fields now that the weather has improved but, no, they are still in semi hibernation mode, lounging about on bed or chairs for most of their time. Tara looked a little annoyed that I'd caught her in a rather inelegant pose!</div>

I've been trying to capture some of the glorious skies that I've seen here lately. This one was quite dramatic because of all the vapour trails...I'm never aware of many planes flying overhead here, but I guess they must have been about on this morning!</div>

The moon gave the evening sky a really eerie look reminiscent of a painting by John Atkinson Grimshaw, but I couldn't manage to really capture it on camera. The sky had an almost peacock blue cast that night.</div>

Well, the coffee is drunk now and I really should get back to work. One last photo which is one of my occasional "this day last year" ones. This time from the Event City show in Trafford where I was demonstrating Sizzix dies and having fun making birdhouses, tea cups, watering cans and dimensional flowers!</div>

Take care and keep warm everyone...the weather's improving but it's still pretty nippy!</div>
